Today the industry is demanding higher quality and increased productivity in shorter lead-times. To meet the challenges of their business environment, companies are looking for ways to make production more efficient and cost-effective. Quality management has become increasingly important with the globalization of the suppliers’ network. 3D laser scanning or « digitizing » is a technology that captures the geometry of existing physical objects through the use of digitizing machines or laser scanners. KREON's scanning technology is based on triangulation. The laser triangulation principle is based on the computing of the distance to the object by means of a directional laser source and a video camera. The laser source creates a laser line on the object which is filmed by one or two cameras. The speed and accuracy of KREON 3D scanners make them the ideal tool for scanning of complex parts of small or large diameter. The scanners enable a considerable gain of time in many phases of the manufacturing process . First of all, up the line, they are the link between the manual design and the digital model. During the adjustment of both parts and tools they consistently apply the modifications trade. Finally, in Production, they enable to check the conformity of the part according to the digital model. It is in response to that industry need for high quality, cost-effective measurement solutions that KREON was created more than a decade ago. KREON TECHNOLOGIES offers complete solutions for quality control, reverse engineering, and inspection using its patented technology in high speed , non contact 3D laser scanning systems. Considerably accelerating product development, KREON solutions promote innovation, by increasing competitiveness through the lowering of your manufacturing costs. They help decrease engineering costs and improve the product’s time to market SOME APPLICATIONS OF NON CONTACT LASER SCANNING.

CAD TO PART COMPARISONUsing our state of the art non contact laser scanning technology and powerful software, production part's scan date (point cloud or polygon data) and existing CAD model are superimposed to find deviations of the produced part from the originally designed CAD model. This method is extremely fast and accurate method to inspect complex parts, during tool qualification stage. We also provide this inspection analysis report along with all our reverse engineering projects to the customer to aid them to quickly validate 3D models created by reverse engineering process. TOOL AND DIE VERIFICATIONNESTech can provide comprehensive analysis of feature locations and deviations from a CAD model on complex real world parts/tool/die. 3D MEASUREMENTWe can measure and validate 3D free form surfaces of complex parts, Assembly positions, welding fixtures, checking gauges, structural parts, dies, jigs by way of 3D measurement capability of system and deviation reports given immediately. EXTREMELY FAST AND ACCURATE RESULTSModern manufacturing requires rapid measurement and analysis that can not be done with conventional systems. NESTech solutions and services can provide up to 90% reduction in inspection time and a ten-fold increase in accuracy over conventional techniques. COMPACT AND PORTABLE - ONSITE SERVICEOur laser scanning and 3D Inspection / measurement systems are compact and portable, it can be moved to your location to carry out the work. Laser Scan FacilitiesKREON ZEPHYR, the product of a know-how and technology
developed through a 10 year experience in 3D non
contact laser digitization. Fixed on a robotic arm, its handy-size and light-weight
allow to digitize in record time all kinds of objects,
colors and textures, even in the hardly reachable
areas. Equipped with an elective triggering off
touch probe, the transition from the (relevé dense)
of the sensing point is done naturally and automatically.

How do you get from the cameras video array to 3D XYZ world?
Kreon's scanning technology is based on triangulation
The angle is selected so that there is sufficient relief and the hidden areas can be efficiently managed. At 0° the camera could not detect the relief, at 90° the relief would be optimum, but the slightest variation would prevent camera from detecting the laser trace. The laser line belongs to a plane, and the video image is in 2D. Thanks to a "calibration" process, it is possible to translate from "row and column video image" information to "u,v" information that is in a system of 2D metric coordinates. The dimensions of the captured area depend on geometrical and optical settings (zoom, focal length, etc...)` How does it work? - STEP BY STEP EXPLAINED.
